2011 – Parkinson's Albany is founded by Mark Burek, a Parkinson's Disease patient and advocate, to provide education and support through local resources to the Parkinson's Community.

April 2012– Our first event included a 5k Run and Community Walk, health expo and the dedication of the Parkinson's Garden of Hope.

April 2013 – Second annual 5k Run and Community Walk.

May 2013 – Our first Hope Soars Gala cocktail event at Wolfert's Roost Country Club to benefit the Brian Grant Foundation.

March 2014– Parkinson's Albany becomes HOPE SOARS.

April 2014 - 3rd annual 5k Run and Community Walk.

October 2014 - Second annual Hope Soars Gala cocktail event to benefit the Parkinson's Research Fund at Albany Med and the YMCA.

February 2015 - Yoga for PD classes begin at the Honest Weight Co-op.

our history

Our organization started as Parkinson's Albany and has expanded to become Hope Soars! Our goal has been to inspire the Parkinson's community to live fully while battling this disease. Our efforts have brought about the Parkinson's Garden of Hope, an annual 5k Run and Community Walk ,introduced Pedaling for Parkinson's to the Capital District YMCA, and Yoga for PD. We remain committed to finding a cure, and ways to live well while we hope.
